The ratings for tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama "Queen of Tears," which is rapidly rising in viewer ratings, conveys laughter and tears at the same time with the diverse relationships of Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) and Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), a married couple.
First of all, Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in have touched viewers' hearts by looking out for each other even after their divorce. Their relationship had deteriorated to the point where it was difficult to even talk to each other, but after the fall of the Queens, their relationship reached a turning point when Baek Hyun-woo took Hong Hye-in and her family to Yeongduri.
While living together in Yeongduri, Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hye-in's relationship gradually recovered as they confided their true feelings that they had never been able to share before, and Baek Hyun-woo even proposed to Hong Hye-in for the second time, asking her to annul their divorce. However, Hong Hye-in, whose illness has worsened to the point that even her husband Baek Hyun-woo can no longer recognize her, explains her condition and refuses the proposal. Although their feelings for each other remain passionate, curiosity grows as to how the relationship between Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in will turn out, as a wall of reality blocks them from each other.
Like Hong Hae-in, who showed her love for her husband, her brother Hong Soo-chul (Kwak Dong-yeon) is also seriously in love with his wife Jeong Da-hae (Lee Joo-bin). Hong Soo-chul missed her even though he knew that Jeong Da-hae was the one who brought down the family and was older than him, which he disliked.
For the first time in her life, Jeong Da-hae feels sorry for her husband who cared for her, and eventually returns to Hong Soo-chul again with all the property she ran away with. Hong Soo-chul showed his love for Jeong Da-hae, who apologized sincerely, and even accepted her son, who may not have been his own son, showing that he is a reliable head of the family. As Jeong Da-hae cries on Hong Soo-chul's chest, Hong Soo-chul promises that he will never let her go, and the audience is left wondering if he will be able to protect his beloved wife and son.
There is also a couple with a new blossoming love story. Hong Hae-in's aunt, Hong Beom-ja (Kim Jung-nan), has a crush on Yeongduri's "counselor," Kim Young-seong (Kim Young-min). Hong Beom-ja meets Kim Young-sung through his mother, who suffers from dementia, and she gradually becomes attracted to him.
In particular, when Kim Young-sung presents Hong Beom-ja with mulberries, her heart begins to light up. Although the mulberries were a gift to all the villagers, Hong Beom-ja's heart gradually responds to Kim Young-sung, who is unaware of this fact, foretelling a hot middle-aged love affair. After three failed marriages, Hong Beom-ja has lost faith in love itself.
Thus, "Queen of Tears" is becoming more and more immersive with each episode thanks to the Queen's family, Baek Hyun-woo, Jung Da-hae, and Kim Young-seong. All eyes will be on how the romance, which has various forms of love, will end.
tvN Saturday and Sunday drama "Queen of Tears" will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m. in Korea.
