SK Telecom develops simultaneous interpretation solution for 13 languages, installs it at Lotte Department Store (South Korea)

SK Telecom (SKT), a major mobile communications company, announced that it has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) simultaneous interpretation solution called "Trans Talker" that supports 13 languages and installed it at Lotte Department Store.
"Trans Talker" is a system that provides simultaneous interpretation. Foreign tourists can ask questions in their own language into a microphone set up in front of a screen, and the questions are translated into Korean.
The chapter is displayed on a screen for the information desk. The information desk responds in Korean and is translated into the foreign tourist's language and displayed on the screen.
Supported languages include Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic. SKT is responding to customer feedback and needs.
The plan is to add more languages as the need arises. Trans Talker is made up of a light-emitting diode (LED) display, a directional microphone, and a computer.
The system was developed in collaboration with Konan Technology, a member of the K-AI Alliance, a collaborative organization of AI-related companies led by the AI Alliance.
The Lotte Department Store is applying the PU (Translation Engine) and Large Scale Language Model (LLM) technologies to the first floor of the Avenuel Jamsil store and the Lotte World Mall Jamsil store.
A "Trans Talker" has been installed at the information desk on the first basement floor.
