South Korean ambassador to the US: ”There will be no major changes to the US-South Korea alliance, regardless of the outcome of the US presidential election”
South Korean ambassador to the United States Cho Hyun-dong said on the 25th, "No matter what the outcome of the US presidential election in November is, the basic direction of the ROK-US alliance will not change."
At a meeting with reporters held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul that day, Ambassador Cho said, "The level of the ROK-U.S. alliance is now stronger than ever before."
Regarding the US presidential election scheduled for November this year, he said, "Currently, the outcome of the presidential election is completely unclear."
He continued, "I have met many influential people from the U.S. House of Representatives and think tanks, but regardless of political direction, I believe that the ROK-U.S.
"My expectations for the future of the alliance have remained consistent," he said. "As ambassador to the United States, I will work hard to ensure that the ROK-U.S. alliance is of practical use to the Korean people in all areas, including security and the economy."
Meanwhile, Ambassador Cho has reportedly been in private contact with former President Donald Trump's allies and is preparing for the outcome of the presidential election.
