日米韓が「革新技術保護協力」を強化…米国「“中露”脅威への対応が急務」
Japan, the US and South Korea to strengthen cooperation on protecting innovative technology... US: ”Response to threats from China and Russia is urgently needed”
The governments of Japan, the United States, and South Korea have decided to strengthen cooperation between their working-level agencies in order to prevent the outflow of innovative technologies, such as semiconductors, AI (artificial intelligence), and biotechnology, and to ensure the implementation of export controls.
According to the South Korean Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the three countries announced at the "1st Japan-US-Korea Innovation Technology Protection Network High-Level Conference" held on the 25th in Washington DC.
The two sides agreed that "violations of export control measures by each country threaten national security," and reached the agreement. The Korean Ministry of Justice, together with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Japanese National Police Agency, have agreed to cooperate in law enforcement efforts in cases involving technology leaks.
The ROK Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy signed a letter of intent for cooperation in implementing export controls with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The Japan-US-Korea Innovative Technology Protection Network was established at the US Canon held in August last year.
The measure was launched as a follow-up measure to the US-Japan-ROK summit held by President David David. Lisa Monaco, the US Undersecretary of Justice, said, "China is supporting cyber hackers who target multinational corporations and political leaders.
From Russia, which has launched its largest ground invasion since World War II, to Iran, which is plotting to assassinate dissidents around the world, we are now faced with a world of wars in battlefields, economic zones, and information spaces.
"We are facing an urgent need to respond to the threats we face today," he said. "We recognize that our most important and innovative technologies are critical to international peace and collective security."
"We must do everything possible to prevent these weapons from being used to jeopardize our security."
