”Bronze statues of former President Park Chung-hee” to be erected in two locations in Daegu...Daegu City Council passes proposal with ”overwhelming approval” = South Korea

In the South Korean city of Daegu, the city council has approved a plan to build a bronze statue of former President Park Chung-hee at a cost of 1.45 billion won (about 163.7 million yen).
The Daegu City Council held a plenary session on the morning of the 2nd and passed the "Daegu City Park Chung-hee Memorial Project Amendment Ordinance" and the first "Daegu City Supplementary Budget Amendment" of the year.
The bill was passed by a vote of 30 in favor, 1 against, and 1 abstention.
The proposed ordinance includes a memorial council that will deliberate on memorial and commemorative projects for former President Park.
The revised supplementary budget also includes provisions for the establishment of a project promotion committee, such as the construction of a bronze statue of former President Park in the East Daegu district and on the site of the returned U.S. military base in Daemyung-dong, Nam-gu.
The budget includes 1.45 billion won for construction in Park Chung-hee Park, located in front of the Daegu National Library in Seoul.
