”Free half-day tour” for international connecting passengers in Shanghai is a hit - Chinese media

On April 15, Shanghai, China launched a "Free Shanghai Half-Day Tour" program for travelers transferring at international flights at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The tour is organized by online travel agency Trip.com. Zhang Chengjie, the company's general manager for overseas markets, said:
"The number of foreign tourists peaks in April and May. Many people are currently transferring to international flights in Shanghai, so we planned this tour for this time," said Mr. Chengjie.
The tour allows foreign tourists to enjoy sightseeing in Shanghai during their layover time. It departs from Pudong International Airport at three different times every day: 9am, 4pm, and 6pm.
The tour takes 5 to 6 hours, allowing more foreigners to learn about Shanghai. Hundreds of foreign tourists have participated in the tour so far. Some tourists make reservations in advance with the company.
People apply for the tour through the website, but some people find out about the tour after arriving at Pudong International Airport and apply on the spot.
"The tour has been well received by participants, and many have recommended it to their friends," Zhang said.
"Some people also said, 'Next time, I'll come to Shanghai, China.'" "In the future, we will cooperate further with the Shanghai Culture and Tourism Bureau, the airport, and airlines to provide these tours to more people.
