The Democratic Party of Korea will consider those who refuse the special investigation to be the culprits. The People's Power Party said, "The essence of the case is obscured and it is being turned into a political battle.
The longer this happens, the longer it will take to uncover the truth," Jeong Kwang-jae, spokesman for the People's Power, said in a commentary, "The Democratic Party is trying to take power by using even unfortunate incidents as material for political strife.
Stop it. The fact that they kept clamoring for an independent investigation into a case that is still under investigation and pushed through to the end shows that the purpose of the independent investigation is not to uncover the truth but to put pressure on the government."
"Looking at the special investigation bill that the Democratic Party of Korea has unilaterally imposed, it is tantamount to threatening to target the presidential office," Chung said.
"The leaking and other activities are not focused on uncovering the truth, but are likely intended to push this into a political battle."
He added, "(The Democratic Party of Korea) has acted arrogantly, believing that they have turned their backs on the will of the people in the general election, and has acted out of control."
"We must remember that claiming to be following the 'will of the people' is a huge delusion. 'Cooperation between the ruling and opposition parties' and 'restoring people's livelihoods' are the solemn commands of the people," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Choi Min-seok, spokesman for the Democratic Party, said at a National Assembly briefing, "Those who refuse the special investigation are the culprits.
It was President Yoon Seok-yeol who said this. The public will consider those who reject the special counsel to be the culprits. President Yoon must accept the special counsel law."
"Right now, the presidential office and the ruling party are not showing any confidence at all. What are they afraid of that they would immediately threaten to veto the special investigation bill once it was passed? Is this the kind of power that the presidential office and the people have shown?
"Reacting so strongly is like admitting that the president is at the top of the external pressure in the investigation (in the case of the death of Private Choi)," he said.
"I have ordered the government to uncover the truth behind this. Now, the only person who will answer to that order is President Yoon," he said, reiterating his call for the acceptance of the special prosecutor law.
