A high-ranking official at the Japanese Embassy in China told South Korean correspondents on the 6th, "Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the time of the telephone conversation between the Chinese and Korean foreign ministers (February 6th) that he would like to hold a summit as soon as possible.
"We have invited Foreign Minister Cho to visit China," he said, adding, "The two countries are currently discussing the specific schedule and agenda for Foreign Minister Cho's visit and are in the final stages of making arrangements."
He also said, "This is the first visit to Beijing by a South Korean foreign minister in six years. During their telephone conversation in February of this year, the two foreign ministers discussed the direction of development of China-South Korea relations and the early implementation of high-level exchanges."
"We are preparing to cooperate closely on issues of mutual interest, including the establishment of a joint venture, cooperation in supply chains, and the North Korean nuclear issue," Cho said.
"I look forward to meeting with our Chinese partner (Foreign Minister Wang Yi) as well."
