Since the first conference in 2008, the chair countries have been Japan, China and South Korea, and South Korea, which is the chair country for this 9th conference, has been arranging the schedule.
This conference will be held for the first time in four years and five months since the eighth conference, held in Chengdu, China in 2019. It will be held within the framework of "Japan-US-ROK trilateral cooperation" and "China-Russia-North Korea strategic cooperation."
The main topics of the upcoming Japan-China-South Korea summit are expected to be the situation in East Asia and economic cooperation plans among the three countries.
The term of the "Panel of Experts under the North Korea Sanctions Committee" has ended (China abstained), and the international community is currently considering alternative measures to the role of the Panel of Experts, which has been monitoring the implementation of sanctions against North Korea.
