The Seoul Western District Prosecutor's Office's Women and Children's Crime Investigation Division charged defendant A, a man in his 20s, with violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (indecent assault using communication media).
On the 8th, the court announced that the defendant had been indicted without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking and Intimidation. Defendant A had repeatedly sent messages to the victim over social media between August 11 and October 4 of last year, causing her to feel sexual shame and disgust for 10 times.
The accused also threatened the victim with messages threatening to assault her and belittle her.
After receiving the complaint from the victim, the police conducted an investigation, including tracking the IP address, and identified the person who sent the message as Defendant A.
The case was then taken over by the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, which has jurisdiction over the residence of Defendant A, from the Busan District Prosecutors' Office. The Busan roundhouse kick case occurred in Busan last year when Defendant Lee, a man in his 30s, was arrested at an officetel in Busan.
The crime was a random assault on a woman waiting for an elevator at a residential office. Defendant Lee was initially charged with attempted murder and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
However, the circumstances of the attempted sexual assault later came to light, and the charge of attempted rape and murder was applied on appeal, increasing the sentence to 20 years, and the sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court.
