A series of electric vehicle ”fire” accidents in South Korea
Two days after an electric car caught fire while traveling on a road in Incheon, South Korea, another fire broke out in the parking lot of an apartment building in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.
A parked electric car caught fire. According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 7th, the car was parked in the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Gimpo City at around 9:44 a.m.
A fire broke out in an electric vehicle that was being driven. Firefighters deployed over 70 firefighters and 25 fire equipment, and it took 27 minutes to put out the fire. No damage was reported from the accident.
Prior to this, on the 5th of this month, at around 9:48 pm, an electric vehicle (taxi) caught fire while traveling on a road in Incheon.
There was a bang and smoke rose from the sky, and the driver crashed his vehicle into a barrier at a nearby checkpoint and escaped.
The fire completely burned down the vehicle, causing damage worth 56 million won (approximately 6.37 million yen).
Police and fire authorities believe that both fires were caused by electrical factors and are investigating the exact circumstances.
