<Men's Golf> Simulation golf champion Kim Hong-taek wins GS Caltex Mae Kyung Open... Also earns a seed for the A-JeeAn Tour
Kim Hong-taek (30), a popular Korean simulation golf tour player nicknamed "King of the Screen," participated in a golf tournament in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do on the 5th.
The 43rd GS Caltex was held at the South Seoul Country Club in Seoul, Korea, on the 13th of May.
On the final day of the Mae Kyung Open (total prize money 1.3 billion won/approximately 150 million yen), he won the playoff.
The GS Caltex Mae Kyung Open is a major tournament with a 300 million won (approximately 34 million yen) prize and a 5-year seed on the KPGA Tour.
Kim Hong-taek, who won the main tournament co-hosted by the AJeeAn Tour, also earned a two-year seed on the AJeeAn Tour. Kim Hong-taek, who achieved his second victory in seven years, won the first place in simulation golf.
Kim Hong-Taek, who was tied for 15th place on the first day of the tournament, tied for 2nd place on the second day, and tied for 3rd place on the third day, finished 10 under par on the final day, beating C. Chi of Thailand.
Kim Hong-taek, along with Choongboon-gam, won the championship after a playoff. Even though it was raining all day, Kim Hong-taek was calm and seemed to enjoy playing.
"My experience winning in simulation golf helped me," said Kim Hong-taek with a laugh. "When I focus too much on my shots, I get too carried away, but I can't help but enjoy the many spectators."
"I was able to take my mind off things thanks to the trophy," he said in his winning comment. Kim Hong-taek said he was happy to be able to present the trophy to his daughter, who was born this year, and said, "I'm glad to be able to present the trophy to my daughter, who was born this year, through the screen."
He demonstrated his presence as a strong player on the field.
