The Incheon Liquefied Hydrogen Plant refines the gaseous by-product hydrogen generated at the SK Incheon Petrochemical Plant into high-purity hydrogen, then cools it and liquefies it.
The plant will produce liquefaction gas. It will have three liquefaction plants with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons and six storage plants with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, making it the largest single plant in the world.
This is one of the achievements of E&S's efforts to build a hydrogen ecosystem. In March 2021, SK Group announced that it would develop a hydrogen-related business using Incheon Liquefied Water at the 3rd Hydrogen Economy Committee, which was chaired by the Prime Minister.
The company plans to promote not only the production of liquefied hydrogen but also the filling business, helping to expand hydrogen mobility.
SK Plug Hi-verse, a joint venture between E&S and US fuel cell giant Plug Power, is building about 40 liquefied hydrogen stations across the country.
The liquid hydrogen will be supplied steadily through liquid hydrogen stations set up across the country, including in Busan and Cheongju.
They would like to start operating the following:
