The city of Daejeon and the Daejeon Tourism Organization jointly launched the "Daejeon Medical and Wellness Tourism Promotion Center" and signed a business agreement with a local business operator to operate the support center effectively.
As a result of the public call for proposals for the "Overseas Base Center Support Project," Living International Co., Ltd. (Tokyo) and Daejeon Song Hospital (California) were selected as overseas base establishment organizations, and the Daejeon Medical Tourism Support Center was established.
The Daejeon Medical Tourism Support Center is a center that provides public relations for medical and wellness tourism in Daejeon, provides consultation for medical tourists, builds a network with local agencies, and attracts customers.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Korea, in 2023, foreign patients from 198 countries will visit Korea.
Of these, patients of Japanese nationality increased 762.8% from the previous year to 187,711, accounting for the largest proportion (31%).
Kim Du-jin, head of the Daejeon City Health and Medical Services Division, said, "The number of cases from Japan has been increasing recently.
"We have decided to open the Ota Medical Tourism Support Center in Tokyo to meet the demand from orthopedic and dermatology patients in the area."
