”Let's talk”...High school girl saves man in his 40s from jumping off bridge (South Korea)

"Uncle, don't die. Let's talk for a bit." On the 12th of this month, a man in his 40s, A, was about to jump over the railing of the Yeonil Bridge when he was shot dead.
The woman was rescued by Kim EUN WOO (18), a third-year student at JoongAng Girls' High School in Pohang. At around 8:53 p.m. on the 12th, the 112 Security Situation Room of the National Police Agency in Gyeongbuk received a tense call.
The caller was Kim, who was at the scene. Kim was on her way home from a cram school when she saw a man in his 40s, Mr. A, about to jump over the railing of the Yeonil Bridge over the Hyeonsan River.
It took about three minutes for the police to arrive at the scene after the call. Kim held down both of A's legs, who was leaning over the railing.
Mr. A's legs were still barely hanging between the railings. Mr. Kim called the emergency room 112 while still holding Mr. A's legs and said, "Police? Someone is on the bridge over the Hengsan River.
At the same time, Kim-san was heard persuading A-san, shouting "Let's talk for a moment. Please" over the phone in the 112 Situation Room.
Kim watched over the scene until the police were called and pulled the man from the railing of the bridge, doing his best to save his life.
The investigation concluded that Mr. A had made the wrong decision due to temporary personal circumstances, not depression or any other reason.
After Mr. A calmed down, the police handed him over to his family. On the 14th, the Gyeongbuk National Police Agency issued a letter of thanks to Mr. Kim for rescuing the suicide attempter.
Kim said, "I just had to help him, so I just grabbed him. I'm so glad he was saved.
"I don't know what happened, but I hope she overcomes the pain she is feeling."
