Hwang Jung Min & Jung HaeIn's ”Veteran 2” invited to Cannes Film Festival... Opening today (14th)
The 77th Cannes International Film Festival is set to begin its 12-day journey.

On the 14th (local time), the 77th Cannes International Film Festival will open at the Grand Théâtre Lumière in Cannes, France.

Among Korean films, 'Veteran 2' and 'Film Youth, Dong-Ho' have been invited to the Midnight Screening section and the Cannes Classics section respectively, while 'Mary' has been invited to the Racineff section.

Veteran 2, directed by Ryu Seung-Wan, was invited to the non-competitive Midnight Screening section and will have its world premiere on the 20th June. 'Veteran 2' is a sequel to 'Veteran' (2015) and depicts an action crime investigation drama in which the youngest detective Park Sung-woo (Jung Hae-in) joins veteran detective Seo Do-chul's (Hwang Jung-min) violent crime squad to pursue a serial killer who has threatened the world. Lead actors Hwang Jung-min, Jung Hae-in and director Ryu Seung-wan will attend the official screening and step on the red carpet.

Next, the documentary 'Film Youth, Dong-Ho', about the life of former Busan International Film Festival Executive Committee Chairman Kim Dong-Ho, has been invited to the non-competitive Cannes Classics section, where it will be screened on the 16th. In La Cinefe, where films produced by students from film schools all over the world are presented, 'Mary', directed by Im Yuri of the Film Academy of the Korea National University of Arts, has been invited to be screened.

Meanwhile, 22 films were invited to the competition section, where the Palme d'Or, the highest award, is up for grabs. Korean films failed to make it into the competitive section, as they did last year.
