”Whole plastic glove” from franchise hamburger restaurant in Korea
A plastic glove was found in a hamburger made at a famous hamburger franchise in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, sparking controversy.
The agency reportedly confirmed the mistake through a surprise inspection and issued a correction order. According to Yonhap News on the 15th, a person living in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, went to a hamburger restaurant on the 19th of last month to order a hamburger.
After eating about half of the hamburger, Mr. A discovered an entire plastic glove, which is used for cooking, between the chicken patty and the vegetables.
Mr. A immediately contacted the store, and the manager came and took the hamburger away, saying he would check it.
However, after collecting the evidence, the store manager immediately canceled the order through the delivery app without consulting the customer.
Neil also did not keep his promise to check how the gloves were found and to contact the manager. When Mr. A contacted the manager, the manager said, "I asked the staff who made the hamburger, and they said that couldn't be the case.
"He said he didn't use plastic gloves. He didn't get a stomach ache from eating the hamburger, so we can't provide compensation."
Mr. A, who wanted a sincere apology from the restaurant, immediately protested to the head office. However, the head office said that the restaurant had made a mistake in the cooking process.
Neil acknowledged that the gloves were in the bag and offered to apologise, but said he could not provide compensation because the stomach ache was not caused by eating the hamburger.
When A said he would tell the media about this, the customer service center insisted that he "just tell the truth."
In the end, Mr. A reported the matter to the Korea Food and Drug Safety Agency. The district office that received the report from the Korea Food and Drug Safety Agency conducted a surprise inspection and found that plastic was found in the process of cooking Mr. A's hamburger.
It was reported that the store in question admitted to the mistake after receiving the ward office's criticism. The ward office said, "We plan to take administrative action against the store for violating the Food Sanitation Act. We have received similar complaints from the store owner.
"We have given administrative guidance to implement hygiene education and thorough food hygiene management to prevent this from happening."
