The sixth release will run until the 4th of next month, with the amount released remaining at 7,800 tons, the same as the previous release.
TEPCO is preparing to release treated water from the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) into the sea, and is holding a measurement and confirmation tank.
TEPCO explained that it had taken samples from the tank and analyzed them, and found that the standards were met. Prior to this, TEPCO had released a total of 39,000 tons of waste into the ocean five times since its first release in August last year.
The water was discharged into the sea off the coast of the Fukushima nuclear plant. TEPCO plans to dispose of about 54,600 tons of treated water in seven stages by March 2025.
