President Yoon's approval rating remains in the ”high 20% range” for a month (South Korea)
The results of a public opinion poll announced on the 16th showed that South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating has remained in the high 20% range since the general election for the National Assembly (held on April 10th).
Four Korean polling companies, Mbrain Public, KEI Stat Research, Korea Research, and Korea Research, conducted the survey on 1,001 men and women aged 18 and over from the 13th to the 15th of this month.
According to the National Barriers Survey (NBS) conducted in the third week of May, President Yoon's approval rating was calculated to be 28%, up 1 percentage point from the previous survey (the first week of May).
President Yoon's approval rating has remained in the high 20% range for a month since the general election. In the third week of April after the general election, it fell 11% to 27%, but has remained in the high 20% range ever since.
Disapproval has also remained stable since hitting 64% in the survey conducted in the third week of April. In this latest survey, only 32% of respondents said they “trust” President Yoon in running the nation, and only 36% said they “cannot trust” him.
The percentage of people who answered "I trust them" was 63%. Compared to the previous survey, the percentage of people who answered "I trust them" increased by 1%, while the percentage of people who answered "I do not trust them" decreased by 2%.
Meanwhile, the approval rating for political parties was calculated as 31% for the ruling People's Power Party and 27% for the Democratic Party of Japan. The ruling party's approval rating was the same as in the previous survey, while the Democratic Party of Japan's approval rating was 27%.
It was followed by the Homeland Reform Party at 12%, the Reform New Party at 4%, the Green Justice Party at 2%, the New Future Party at 1% and the Progress Party at 0%.
