【単独インタビュー】「BOYS PLANET」出演ONLEE、新曲「Love Algorithm」やファンを思って制作したフォトブックについて語る
[Exclusive Interview] ONLEE, appearing on ”BOYS PLANET”, talks about his new song ”Love Algorithm” and the photo book he created with his fans in mind.
Singer ONLEE (LEE SEUNG HWAN), whose performance in "BOYS PLANET" became a hot topic, will be performing at the FC LIVE in Shinjuku, Tokyo from Friday, May 17th to Saturday, May 26th.
The "2024 ONLEE PHOTOBOOK RELEASE EVENT IN JAPAN" is being held in Tokyo. The energetic ONLEE will release a new album in April.
She recently released her new song "Love Algorithm," and we spoke about the photo book she created for OLEE (ONLEE's fan).
1. First, please introduce yourself! I am currently a solo singer under the name ONLEE. I was featured on the show "BOYS PLANET" as Lee Soo-hyun.
I became known to many people as a participant named Nhwan, and since then I have been a solo singer. I chose the name ONLEE with the intention of showing my own color. 2.
Congratulations on the release of your new song! Could you please give us a brief introduction to the song?
"Algorithm" is a book that shows how algorithms are often seen in our daily lives.
I wanted to write a song that would relate something like going out, something to love. In my first album, I included a story about only looking at the other person's profile.
But this time, it's the opposite. You can think of "Love Algorithm" as a song you sing when you know that the other person likes you.
I think it would be interesting to ask about the connections. 3. A photobook has also been released this time. If there are any points you paid special attention to, please tell us a little about them!
This photobook contains photos, but there are also words written by me inside. I wrote answers to questions in written form, and I hope you will enjoy reading them.
I think it will be interesting to see it. There is a cat from my company in the photo book. It's a beautiful white cat called "Hessari", and there are photos taken with the cat.
So, I hope you will take a look. 4. Are you currently studying Japanese? Were there any difficulties you encountered while studying Japanese?
You don't study Japanese separately, do you? But when you cover Japanese songs, do you have any feelings for them?
I think that when I try to understand the lyrics of songs, I learn Japanese by interpreting them all. When I do that, it's often difficult. Even if I know a word, when I interpret it, it becomes different.
For example, I didn't know the difference between "koi" and "ai." So I asked a friend who could speak Japanese. But he couldn't explain it well either.
(laughs) It's not easy. 5. Are there any Japanese artists you would like to collaborate with? I think there are a lot of Japanese people who are very good singers and sing great songs.
I was thinking of Aimyon. She is a very famous person, so I think you know her, but she has a very good song and many people seem to be good at singing. Also, "Pretender"
I really like Official Hige Dandism and RADWIMPS. I also like a singer called Marcy. I thought it would be fun to collaborate with the singers I listen to a lot.
6. When you come to Japan, are there any must-have items that you always get or any must-dos that you always do when you come to Japan?
There is one thing I buy on the first day I come to Japan. I didn't bring cleansing foam from Korea, so I bought SENKA cleansing foam at Don Quijote.
I buy it at convenience stores. It seems like the product is really good. I usually buy the blue one that everyone knows, but yesterday I bought the pink one for the first time. It was really good. I really
7. Was there anything you paid special attention to for the release event stage? I think the atmosphere people like in Korea and Japan is different, so what kind of songs do you like?
I always worry about whether my fans will enjoy the songs I sing, but it's actually difficult because we're in different countries. So I'm thinking about singing songs from different genres.
I wonder if it's something I can do, or if I think about it from the listener's point of view and what sounds interesting, but to be honest, I'm still not sure if I'm approaching it in a way that always gives people a sense of satisfaction.
I think we're at the stage where we won't know until we collect the data. Even if it doesn't work out, I want to try to play a variety of songs for you to listen to.
I really struggle with whether I should do a song that the person who gives me the song likes, or a song that I want to do and like. -- I think the fans will be happy if it's a song that you put a lot of thought into.
I'm glad if that's the case (laughs). ONLEE answered each question in the interview carefully. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of music he will perform in the future.
"4 ONLEE PHOTOBOOK RELEASE EVENT IN JAPAN" is being held at FC LIVE TOKYO until the 26th of this month.
