Jeon Young Hyun appointed head of Samsung Electronics' semiconductor division, with track record in memory semiconductor and battery fields (Korea)

Samsung Electronics announced on the 21st that it has appointed Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun as head of the Device Solutions (DS) division, which is responsible for the semiconductor business.
The company's president, Kyung Kye-hyun, has been appointed head of the Future Business Planning Group and president of SAIT (formerly the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology).
Samsung Electronics said of the personnel changes, "In the current uncertain business environment, we are taking appropriate measures to improve the internal and external atmosphere of the company.
Vice Chairman Chung joined Samsung Electronics' memory division in 2000.
After working in memory development and marketing, he was appointed head of the memory business in 2014. In 2017, he transferred to Samsung SDI, a major battery manufacturer, and served as its representative director for five years.
From 2024, he will be the head of Samsung Electronics' Future Business Planning Team, developing next-generation businesses. Samsung Electronics said, "Vice Chairman Chung will lead our memory semiconductor and battery businesses to become global leaders.
"I expect that he will be able to overcome the slump in the semiconductor sector based on the extensive management know-how he has accumulated thus far."
