He reportedly refused to hand over the password and did not provide it. According to the JoongAng Ilbo on the 24th, the police secured three iPhones used by Kim Ho Joong during the investigation, but
Kim Ho Joong's cell phone is one of the important pieces of evidence that will help clarify his actions before and after the traffic accident and the circumstances surrounding the destruction of evidence.
However, Kim Ho Joong did not provide the passwords to his three iPhones to the police.
If the password cannot be determined due to security issues, digital forensics would take several months for investigative agencies to conduct, making forensics virtually impossible.
It has been pointed out that this contradicts what Kim Ho Joong said when he was questioned by police on the 19th and 21st, "I will cooperate with the police investigation."
The investigative authorities believe that since there is a high possibility that a large amount of evidence related to this case remains on Kim Ho Joong's mobile phone, they are investigating whether Kim Ho Joong has engaged in any aggressive attempts to cover up the incident and destroy evidence.
The Seoul Gangnam Police Station said that Kim Ho Joong had drunk a number of bottles of soju from employees of an entertainment facility he visited before returning home on the 9th and from people who were with him at the drinking party.
An employee who was present at the drinking party during the witness investigation was quoted as saying, "Kim Ho Joong was the only one who drank soju, and the amount was about three or four bottles."
Police also secured relevant CCTV footage and sales records during searches of entertainment venues.
During police investigation on the 21st, Kim Ho Joong said, "I don't remember exactly, but I drank alcohol in two places, a restaurant and an entertainment venue."
He stated that he had drunk one or two bomb drinks (a mix of shochu and beer) at the restaurant, and three or four shochu drinks at the entertainment venue, with no Western alcohol, totaling less than 10 drinks.
Regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident, he said, "I was pairing (connecting) my cell phone with Bluetooth and a momentary mistake caused the accident," and denied that drinking was a factor.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court indicted him on charges of dangerous driving causing injury and fleeing the scene causing injury under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specified Crimes, failure to take action after an accident under the Road Traffic Act, and aiding and abetting the escape of a criminal under the Road Traffic Act at around 12 p.m. on the 24th.
The court will conduct a pre-arrest hearing (warrant review) for Kim Ho Joong, for whom an arrest warrant has been requested on suspicion of sexual assault.
