UAE Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority: Ban on cryptocurrency mining on farms

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture Authority in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a recommendation banning cryptocurrency mining on farms.

The Dhaka Agriculture and Food Safety Authority has reportedly told farmers that they cannot use their farms as cryptocurrency mining sites. The government agency said such activities are "for purposes other than their traditional use."
"This is considered a misuse of farmland for agricultural purposes," he said. Anyone who violates the regulations will be fined up to 10,000 UAE dirhams (equivalent to about US$4,300), the government said.
Although cryptocurrency mining on farms is prohibited, the UAE has emerged as a Bitcoin mining-friendly jurisdiction in the Middle East in 2023.
