South Korea's largest opposition party leader Lee Jae-myung claims ”falsely accused” in prosecutor fraud trial... Witnesses counter that ”Lee's claims are lies”

Regarding the "prosecutor fraud case" in which Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, South Korea's largest opposition party, is allegedly involved, testimony was given in court denying Lee's claim of "falsehood."

In 2002, while investigating the allegations of preferential sales of the Bundang Park View apartment complex, Choi conspired with Lee to smuggle the late Kim Byung-ryang, who was the mayor of Seongnam at the time.
The following year, he was given a suspended sentence for calling Mr. Choi and falsely representing himself as a prosecutor. Lee was also arrested along with Mr. Choi and was given a fine of 1.5 million won (about 170,000 yen).
Later, during the 2018 Gyeonggi Province gubernatorial election, CEO Lee stated in relation to his criminal record, "I didn't do it. I happened to be nearby when the producer lied, so I was innocent."
However, in court today, Choi denied Lee's allegations, calling them "obvious lies." Lee said, "During the 2002 investigation, I received a letter from Mayor Kim.
"Mr. Choi made (CEO Lee) the main culprit in exchange for dropping the charges and receiving a light reprimand from KBS," he claims. However, Mr. Choi said, "That was not the case," and that "it was fabricated."
Contrary to Lee's claims, Choi claims that Lee was actively involved in the prosecutorial fraud case.
He testified that the prosecutor's name was given to him by Lee when he falsely introduced him as the prosecutor. He said, "Lee told me the name," and added, "At the time, he wrote down the questions on a notepad."
In cross-examination, Lee's lawyer said, "The defendant (Lee) was not there when he said he was at the prosecutor's office. When the defendant was there, the witness confirmed (Mayor Kim's) voice message.
He countered, "I only had a call with Mayor Kim." This is an assertion that Lee was not present at the time of the prosecutorial misrepresentation case.

In a broadcast debate during the 2018 Gyeonggi gubernatorial election, Lee said, "I was falsely accused of falsely representing myself as a prosecutor."
" He is accused of instigating perjury while on trial for publishing false facts (violating election law) such as "I was the mayor of the city of Seoul." The prosecution has said that Lee was the witness who served as Mayor Kim's personal secretary, Kim Jin-hee.
Lee was indicted on charges of instigating perjury and Kim on charges of perjury, as they allegedly asked Song to give false testimony in a way that was favorable to the company. Kim admitted to making false statements in court, but Lee's side said that
denies it.
