South Korea ”detains” man in his 40s who tried to set fire to courthouse, ”dissatisfied” with court outcome
A man in his 40s was arrested in South Korea on suspicion of trying to set fire to a courthouse out of dissatisfaction with a verdict. On the 28th, the Gangseo Police Station in Busan charged him with "attempting to set fire to an existing building and special arson."
"We have arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of obstruction of justice," the police said. Suspect A is accused of throwing flammable objects at the face of a community service officer at the security checkpoint of the Busan District Court Western Branch on the 23rd of this month at around 2:20 pm.
He is accused of pawning a house and trying to set it on fire. At the time, court officials immediately stopped Suspect A, so a fire did not break out. After that, the police arrived and arrested Suspect A.
Police investigation revealed that suspect A had been fined 1.5 million won (approximately 173,000 yen) by the Busan District Court Western Branch last year for assault.
It is said that Suspect A has previously caused trouble at the court's civil complaints office (a department similar to a complaint consultation desk) several times.
