台湾人の64%、「主権主張」新総統の就任の辞を “支持”
64% of Taiwanese support new president's inaugural speech in support of ”sovereignty assertion”
China has strongly opposed Taiwan President Lai Ching-te's inaugural speech, which mentioned "Taiwan's sovereignty and the maintenance of the status quo," but it has become clear that many Taiwanese people "support" it.
According to a Taiwanese cable TV station TVBS on the 28th, a poll of 1,109 Taiwanese people was conducted over a five-day period from the 20th of this month, when President Lai's inauguration ceremony was held, and 64% of them said they supported the inauguration.
Only 22% of respondents said they did not approve of the inaugural address, and 14% did not express an opinion. In his inaugural address, President Lai did not use the word "independence" but simply said, "We will create a new government."
"We will continue to uphold the four principles and maintain the status quo without being servile or arrogant," he said. The four principles were announced by the previous administration of President Tsai Ing-wen in 2021.
The principles of cross-strait relations are: "The free and democratic constitutional system will be forever maintained," "The Republic of China and the People's Republic of China will uphold mutual non-subordination," "The violation of sovereignty and annexation will not be tolerated," and "The future of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is the responsibility of all Taiwanese people."
"We will follow the will of the people." President Lai also stated, "Only when we have sovereignty can we be a nation," and "According to the Constitution of the Republic of China, the sovereignty of the Republic of China belongs to the entire people, and those who have the nationality of the Republic of China are citizens of the Republic of China."
"As you can see from this, the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subservient to each other." In response, China said, "The assertion of Taiwan's sovereignty is, in other words, an assertion of 'independence,'" and
All of the prefecture's channels, as well as state-run media, conveyed the message that "Taiwan independence is the road to death."
