<Women's Golf> Lee Ye-won, no bogeys for three days, three wins this season...KLPGA is 'Yewon's kingdom'
South Korean female professional golfer Lee Ye-won (21) participated in the THESTARHUE Golf Club in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province on the 2nd.
In the third round of the KLPGA Tour "Sh Suikyo Bank MBN Women's Open" held at GOLF & RESORT, she won with 8 birdies and no bogeys.
She won the tournament with a score of 14 under par. Kim Min Seo and Hwang Yumin tied for second place, three strokes behind. This puts Lee Ye Won back in the lead for the first time in three weeks, and her third win of the season.
She won her sixth individual victory and received 180 million won (about 21 million yen) in prize money. Lee Ye-won also did not make a bogey throughout the tournament, becoming the 10th person on the tour to win the tournament without a bogey.
In her third year on the KLPGA Tour, Lee Ye-won is making the 2024 season "Yewon-dominant."
With this victory, he is ranked first in the season grand prize, prize money, and most wins category.
Last year, Lee Ye-won won three tournaments and took home the triple crown (grand prize, money leader, and fewest strokes award), and this season, the KLPGA Tour was dominated by Lee Ye-won.
Of the 30 KLPGA Tour tournaments, 11 were held, and Lee Ye-won won three out of the nine tournaments she participated in. She was also ranked among the top three in the KLPGA, including Park Hyun-kyung, Kim Suzy, and Kim Mi-hyun.
Although Nbyul was absent from the tournament this time due to participating in the U.S. Women's Open, where Yuka Sasao won, she is setting a great record. After winning, Lee Ye-won said, "Rather than being greedy, I will be confident and play with confidence.
"I tried to play as hard as I could. I'm happy that I was able to get three wins this season sooner than I expected," he said with a laugh. He continued, "I'm happy that I was able to finish the tournament without a bogey. My short putting has improved.
"I didn't make any mistakes and that led to no bogeys. My goal was to win one more game than last year (three wins), so I'll achieve four wins and then think about my next goal."
In response to a question about whether the JLPGA Tour major tournament, the World Ladies Championship Salonpa Cup, was a turning point for her, she said, "That
At the time, I didn't feel good about my putting or shots. I went in with the intention of learning more, and although I was disappointed at the end, I gained confidence after that and was able to grab the chance to win right away.
Lee Ye-won will participate in the LPGA Tour major tournament, the Amundi Evian Championship, to be held in France in July, and said, "The timing is good and the course is good.
"I decided to participate because I heard that I would get along well with the Korean players. And even if I don't perform well, I know there's things I can learn from the field, so I've decided to take it to the next level of improvement."
Expectations are high for her first LPGA Tour appearance.
