South Korean police have applied for an arrest warrant for a prosecutorial investigator suspected of first leaking information about the drug investigation into the late actor Lee Sun Kyun.
The Gyeonggi Nambu National Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Investigation Unit arrested a man accused of leaking official secrets.
On the 3rd, the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office revealed that they had applied for a pre-arrest warrant on the 30th of last month against Investigator A of the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office. Investigator A stated, "Actor Lee Sun Kyun is involved in a drug case and the police are investigating.
The outlet is suspected of leaking information to a reporter from a daily newspaper in the Gyeonggi region that "Top star L is under investigation for drug charges" on October 19 last year.
In response, the police have been in talks with the Incheon District Prosecutors' Office and the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency since January this year to investigate the initial leak and reporting process.
A search of the house was conducted, and in the process, suspicions regarding Mr. A were uncovered. A police official said, "The prosecution has requested an arrest warrant for Mr. A from the court, and the questioning of the suspect before arrest (substantive review of the warrant) is not possible.
The date is expected to be decided within this week." A reportedly admitted to some of the charges against him, but denied others.
