「本当に寝てる?」高速道路の第1車線でぐうぐう…自律走行中だった=韓国
”Are you really asleep?” A car was whirring in the first lane of the highway... It was autonomously driving = Korea
A video of a driver asleep in autonomous driving mode in the first lane of a highway is drawing attention.
Driver A reported a shocking incident he witnessed while driving on the expressway. According to A, he noticed a car suddenly slowing down in the first lane of the expressway heading towards Yeosu, South Jeolla Province.
Even though he honked the horn, the car continued to drive at a slow speed. Mr. A thought something was wrong and feared a dangerous situation, so he turned on his emergency lights and followed the car at a slow speed, carefully observing what was going on.
However, he could not continue driving slowly, so he moved to the second lane and looked to the side, where he witnessed a shocking scene.
"I tried to wake him up by honking the horn several times, but he kept doing the same thing, so I moved to the second lane to check on him, and he was asleep. I was in the first lane of the highway," he said.
"There was no reaction," he said. As he followed the car, Mr. A suddenly wondered if the driver had put the car in autonomous driving mode. Mr. A said, "If that's the case, then there should be a car stopping in front of me.
"I thought that if I stopped, this car would stop or change lanes," he said, and went in front of the car and slowly slowed down. When he did slow down, the car changed lanes and he and I changed lanes together.
Just then, they arrived at the entrance to the rest area. Mr. A thought, "I have to stop it even if it hits my bus," and continued to slow down. The car followed behind and moved to the right, hitting the curb.
The situation after that was not disclosed, but lawyer Han Moon-cheol said, "It could have been a disaster," and pointed out, "Autonomous driving is still difficult."
On the other hand, autonomous driving is a function that allows a vehicle to drive on its own without driver intervention by combining artificial intelligence and sensor technology. This has its advantages, but it also raises safety and ethical issues.
The debate over self-driving taxis continues. In fact, San Francisco, California, the first city in the world to allow 24-hour self-driving taxis, has seen a series of fatal accidents.
