The forestry authorities, along with the fire department, deployed 10 HYERI helicopters, 33 fire suppression equipment, and 119 personnel to put out the large fire at around 6:25 p.m. that day.
The remaining small embers are being extinguished. The fire has burned 2.4 hectares of national forest land. Fire officials believe the fire was started by welding sparks.
The forestry authorities explained that the steepness and rocky terrain of the mountain made it difficult to put out the fire. They will investigate the exact cause once the fire is completely out.
The Korea Forest Service's Central Forest Disaster Situation Office and Gangwon Province said, "Even small sparks can spread into large-scale forest fires if not handled properly, so we ask that you refrain from illegally burning agricultural by-products and thoroughly manage sparks."
" he requested.
