According to CNN, NBC, and other sources on the 16th (local time), at around 2:55 pm on the 14th, a man was shot dead in Oregon, USA.
The AtmosFEAR ride at The Oaks Amusement Park in Portland came to a stop in mid-air, leaving 28 passengers hanging in the air.
"Atmosphere" is an attraction where passengers sit in a circle and spin 360 degrees.
The passengers were left hanging in the air for around 30 minutes, about 15 metres above the ground, at the height of five stories of an apartment building.
Portland Fire and Rescue, which responded to the scene at around 3:20 p.m. after receiving a call from the attraction operator, considered using a rope to rescue the passengers, but fortunately the park staff were able to rescue them manually.
"It was so shocking, I cried when my feet touched the ground," passenger Daniel Elan told a local radio station.
Another passenger complained of pain, saying, "I had no feeling below my waist (while hanging)."
One passenger, who was in poor health prior to the accident, was taken to the local hospital for examination.
The passengers were taken to a hospital, while the other passengers were sent home after a brief medical examination at the scene. Portland Fire and Rescue reportedly trained and prepared for such situations through social media.
"It may have taken a few minutes to get everyone back to the ground, but we were prepared for an emergency like this," he said.
According to the amusement park, Atmosphere began operating in 2021 and this was the first time such an accident had occurred.
The amusement park said, "We will investigate the cause of the accident through the attraction manufacturer and others, and will suspend operation of the attraction for the time being."
