In South Korea, a car driven by a drunk driver in his 20s collided with a cyclist and other people crossing a pedestrian crossing, resulting in five deaths and injuries.
According to the Cheongju Eastern Fire Station on the 21st, at around 3:34 a.m. on the same day, a fire broke out in Seokkyo, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju City, North Chungcheong Province.
At an intersection in Dong, a car driven by Mr. A (23) collided with a bicycle crossing the road. Mr. A's car then crossed the center line and hit a bicycle belonging to Mr. B (33) who was coming from the opposite direction.
The accident resulted in the death of the cyclist, Mr. C (60), and four others, including Mr. A, sustaining serious injuries and being taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police investigation found that Mr. A's blood alcohol level was 0.098%, a level that would result in his license being revoked.
In response, the police have charged Mr. A with causing death and injury under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Processing, and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
