Samsung Electronics builds test environment for next-generation interface ”CXL” (Korea)

Samsung Electronics is establishing an infrastructure environment using the next-generation interface "CXL (Compute Express Link)" at its own facility, the "Samsung Memory Research Center
The company announced that it had built the system within its Smart Memory Research Center (SMRC). Prior to this, the company had already demonstrated the operation of CXL memory using products from the U.S. software company Red Hat.
As a result, SMRC will be able to help its customers who use Samsung Electronics' memory products to determine the optimal combination of hardware and software for their servers.
This allows Samsung Electronics and Red Hat to analyze the software and evaluate its performance, shortening the process of sending the product to Red Hat headquarters and repeating the testing.
The two companies are also cooperating on software technology, leading the CXL market. In May, at the Red Hat Summit 2024 held in Denver, USA, the two companies announced the launch of Red Hat Linux for enterprises.
The server uses Enterprise Linux 9.3 and is equipped with Samsung Electronics' CMM-D (CXL Memory
The company also demonstrated how the chip is equipped with a Deep Learning Recommendation Module-DRAM, which improves the performance of the Deep Learning Recommendation Model (DLRM).
It enables rapid data processing and artificial intelligence (AI) inference and acceleration, allowing customers to build high-performance AI models without capital investment.
