韓国、ロシアの出席した国際会議で「国際安保への危害に断固として対応せねば」
”We must respond firmly to threats to international security” at international conference attended by South Korea and Russia
On the 24th (local time), at an international conference attended by Russia and Iran, South Korea mentioned the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, including the conclusion of a new treaty between Russia and North Korea, and said, "The international community should not take any action that would harm international security and peace."
"We must take firm action against any such actions," Jeong Byung-won, vice minister of the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a summit held in Tehran, Iran, on the same day.
He attended the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Foreign Ministers' Meeting as the chief representative of South Korea. The ACD is a consultative body between Asian countries established in 2002 under the initiative of Thailand, and consists of Japan, China, South Korea and ASEAN.
It is made up of 34 countries from the Middle East, Southwest Asia, Central Asia, Russia, and Palestine.
Unfortunately, this conference was chaired by Iran, amid accusations that "Russia is helping the country." Andrei Rudenko, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and the Pacific, also attended from the Russian side.
During the meeting, Assistant Minister Chung explained the severe situation on the Korean Peninsula due to the recent repeated provocations by North Korea.
Any direct or indirect actions that would increase North Korea's military capabilities, such as the conclusion of a "Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," would be considered unacceptable by the United States.
"This is a violation of UN Security Council resolutions," he said, emphasizing that "the international community, including ACD member states, must respond firmly to any actions that undermine international security and peace."
