韓国与党代表選候補「代表になったら、“核武装”を党論に」…「“力のある国”だけが生存してきた」
South Korean ruling party leader candidate: ”If I become leader, I will make 'nuclear armament' the party's platform”... ”Only 'powerful countries' have survived”
Na Kyung-won, a candidate for the next leadership election of South Korea's ruling People Power Party, emphasized, "Now we should keep all possibilities open and even consider nuclear armament."
On the 26th, Rep. Na wrote on Facebook, "North Korea's nuclear program is becoming more sophisticated, and the international order, including cooperation between Russia and North Korea, is creating uncertainty for South Korea's security.
"Although the alliance provides a deterrent, it is not possible to guarantee that the security environment will change in the future," he said. "The history of the international community is one in which only powerful countries have the power to deter external threats.
"My consideration of nuclear armament has three points," Na said. "The first is nuclear armament that reflects the international situation.
"By working together to become nuclear-armed, we will bring about a change in US policy on the Korean Peninsula through close cooperation with our ally, the United States."
He continued, "The second is nuclear armament for peace. The right of self-defense for survival, or nuclear armament in perpetuity,
"The third is practical nuclear armament, which is not about possessing nuclear weapons forever, but about achieving the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through nuclear disarmament dialogue with North Korea and restoring peace," he said. "The third is practical nuclear armament, which is based on the ROK-U.S. relationship and international norms.
"Even if there are restrictions on nuclear weapons development, we will not just say, 'We'll do it right now,' but we will ensure that we are prepared to develop nuclear weapons within a short period of time through our actions," he explained.
Rep. Na said, "If I become the leader of the People's Power Party (the ruling party), I will make these points the party's policy," and "I will work to have the next party member prepare more detailed policies and work more closely with the government."
We will deploy our forces," he added.
