South Korea's youth population to be halved by 2050; unmarried rate triples in 20 years

It has been found that roughly four in five young people in South Korea are unmarried. The unmarried rate for young people in their early and mid-30s has roughly tripled compared to 20 years ago.
On the 27th, the Statistics Korea Institute of Statistics Korea released the results of an analysis titled "How Has the Profile of Korean Youth Changed?" which included the above information.
According to an analysis by the Statistics Development Institute, the proportion of young people in the total population has been declining since peaking at 31.9 percent in 1990.
In 2020, the youth population ratio fell to 20.4%. If the current trend continues, the youth population ratio will drop to 11.0% in 2050.
The marriage rate for young people has continued to fall, with 81.5% of them being unmarried as of 2020. The figures were 86.1% of men and 76.8% of women unmarried.
The age group in which the unmarried rate rose most sharply was 30-34 years old, with the rate of unmarried women increasing more sharply than that of men. The unmarried rate in 2020 was 56.3%, three times higher than 20 years ago (18.7%).
Among all types of households, the percentage of young people living with their parents is the highest in Korea, at 40-60%. Until 2015, the percentage of young people living with their parents had been steadily increasing, and by 2020,
It was found that the percentage had fallen by 3.1% from five years ago. The percentage of young people living alone has been on the rise since 2000, reaching 20.1% (1.94 million people) in 2020, down from 20.1% in 2015.
It was found that this is a sharp increase from 12.9% in 2010. The proportion of university graduates or higher exceeded half for the first time in 2010 at 50.5%. In 2020, it was 53.0%, with 58.4% for men and 58.4% for women.
The proportion of economically active youth in 2020 was 62.5%. For men, the figures were 63.9%, and for women, 61.1%.
