Coinbase sues SEC and FDIC for ”not complying with Freedom of Information Act”
Coinbase, a U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, has filed a lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
According to a report from Fox Business on the 27th (local time), Coinbase was indicted by the SEC and FDIC in the District of Columbia District Court for Financial Services.
The company, through its consulting firm History Associates, has alleged that Coinbase did not comply with the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests filed in the US District Court.
The C and FDIC had requested records about Ethereum 2.0, Zachary Coburn, and Enigma MPC, but were denied.
Coinbase criticized the federal agency for trying to exclude the cryptocurrency industry from the banking sector.
"For two years, federal financial regulators, including the SEC and FDIC, have used every regulatory tool at their disposal to cripple digital finance," Coinbase said in a statement.
"This is intended to clarify the FDIC's role."
