Macau's average room occupancy rate in May was 83.6%...Hotel industry showing signs of recovery - Chinese report

According to data recently released by the Macau Government Statistics and Census Office, a total of 143 accommodation establishments provided accommodation services in Macau in May, an increase of 13 establishments compared to the same month last year.
The total number of rooms increased by 9.3% to 47,000. The average room occupancy rate increased by 4.9 percentage points to 83.6%. Of these, five-star hotels increased by 6.4 percentage points to 85.3%, while the average room occupancy rate increased by 4.9 percentage points to 83.6%.
Four-star hotels increased by 2.6 percentage points to 79.7%, while three-star hotels were at 80.8%, down 0.2 percentage points.
The number of overnight guests in May (total number of people, same below) increased 8.4% year-on-year to 1,196,000.
This is a 3.3% increase compared to the same month in 2019 before the COVID-19 virus outbreak. The number of guests from mainland China increased by 9.7% to 870,000, and the number of guests from overseas increased by 66.1% to 8,000.
The average occupancy rate for rooms in the first five months of this year was 84.3%, up 7.7 percentage points from the same period last year. The number of overnight guests increased 25% to 6.135 million.
This indicates that Macau's hotel industry is on the road to recovery.
