Water and electricity supply cut off for over 500 apartment buildings amid scorching heat in South Korea

An apartment building in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, has lost water and electricity, affecting more than 500 apartment residents during the heat.
According to Goyang City on the 9th, the substation room on the second basement floor was flooded due to a break in a water supply pipe in the apartment building at around 7:20 pm the previous day.
The accident cut off water and electricity to 538 households, and even the elevators stopped working. Goyang City and the apartment management office began emergency restoration work, including drainage. Emergency generators were activated and the elevators were shut down.
According to the city, water was restored at around 3 a.m. on the same day, eight hours after the water outage. Electricity was restored around 8:30 a.m., 13 hours later.
As the heat affected residents, Goyang city and the fire department set up a water truck at the entrance to the apartment complex and also provided mineral water, ramen, and other support.
A Goyang city official said, "The circuit breaker and other parts broke, so the electrical equipment was replaced and emergency restoration was carried out." He added, "Water and electricity are being supplied, but it will take some time before they are operating normally."
