成長戦略の軸にAIを組み込んだSKグループ、26年までに80兆ウォンの投資財源を確保=韓国
SK Group, which has incorporated AI into its growth strategy, plans to secure 80 trillion won in investment resources by 2026 (South Korea)
SK Group has secured 80 trillion won (about 9.3541 trillion yen) in funding by 2026 in response to expected significant growth in its artificial intelligence (AI) business.
The group is shifting the focus of its growth strategy from the existing "BBC (battery, bio, semiconductor)" to "ABC (AI, battery, semiconductor)."
On July 1, the group decided to set up a "Semiconductor Committee" within the "SUPEX Pursuit Council," the highest organization that decides management policies for the group, and appointed SK Hynic as chairman.
The company appointed Kwak Noh-jeong as CEO of the company. Unlike the seven existing councils, this will be the only council that deals only with specific businesses.
SK Hynix plans to invest 103 trillion won (US$110.9 trillion) over the next five years until 2028 to expand its semiconductor business.
Of that, 82 trillion won (US$90.5 billion), or about 80%, will be allocated to AI-related business areas such as fifth-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM).
In connection with this, the company is leading the market by developing the 4th and 5th generation HBM "HBM3" and "HBM3E" in April and August 2023.
By exclusively supplying HBM4 to the US semiconductor giant NVIDIA, the company saw its operating profit for the January-March period of 2024 surge to 2.886 trillion won (approximately 3.36147 trillion yen).
Mass production of the " is scheduled to begin in 2025, one year earlier than originally planned.
