South Korean police plan to summon and question Bodum Company CEO Kang Hyun-wook and his wife within this month on suspicion of viewing employee messenger messages without permission.
According to the police on the 3rd, the first cyber investigation unit of the Gyeonggi-buk (North) Metropolitan Police Agency investigated the information and communications network of CEO Kang and his wife Susan Eluda, a director of the company.
The investigation into the alleged violation of the law was taken over from Namyangju Nambu Police Station last month and is currently ongoing. The Bodum Company employees who filed the lawsuit against the Kangs said during police questioning,
"Even if it is an internal company messenger, viewing and sharing private information without permission should be considered a breach of confidentiality."
In May, employees posted on a job-seeking website that CEO Kang and his wife were working together on an internal message board.
She filed a complaint with the police last month, accusing him of "workplace harassment" by viewing her journal entries without her permission.
In response, Kang said on his SNS on the 26th of last month, "We will be conducting the investigation sincerely.
"We will make sure that the truth is revealed," he said. Regarding the dissemination of false information and defamatory posts, he retorted, "We will take firm measures, including legal action."
