South Korean prosecutors seek three-year prison sentence for actor Lee Seung Gi's former management office HOOK CEO Kwon Jin Young
Kwon Jin Young, CEO of HOOK Entertainment, the former management office of singer and actor Lee Seung Gi, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the prosecution.
On the 4th, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal 2 Exclusive trial for the violation of the Narcotics Control Law (intoxication) was held and the arguments were concluded.
On the same day, the prosecution sentenced CEO Kwon Jin Young, who was indicted on charges of prescribing and receiving sleeping pills under the name of an employee, to three years in prison, with the actual sentence and confiscation of disciplinary matters, and a fine of 170,000 won (approximately 10,700,000 won).
Kwon Jin Young was sentenced to 100,000 yen in damages. From January to July of 2022, CEO Kwon Jin Young had three instances of fraudulent behavior by two employees who falsely prescribed the sleeping pill Stills Nox tablets.
Kwon Jin Young, the company's representative, admitted to all the charges at the trial held last month through his legal representative, but the background to the prescription of the sleeping pills on his behalf was unclear.
At the time, Kwon Jin Young's legal representative said, "The defendant had previously suffered lower body paralysis due to a cerebral infarction and was undergoing rehabilitation treatment. The purpose of the treatment was to prevent the recurrence of the cerebral infarction.
"I would like the court to take into consideration that he was prescribed sleeping pills for medical purposes," he said. Meanwhile, Kwon Jin Young's sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 8th next month.
