Only one in four 15-year-olds in South Korea said they were ”highly satisfied with their lives” - lower than the OECD average
It was found that only 26.1% of 15-year-olds in South Korea responded that they had a high level of life satisfaction.
On the 4th, the Korean Children's Rights Center published the "2024 Major Statistics on Children"
The OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) also published the International Statistics on Children's Life Satisfaction. This includes the results of a life satisfaction survey of 15-year-old children in major countries in 2022.
The OECD evaluates life satisfaction on a 10-point scale, dividing the children surveyed into those who feel "high life satisfaction" (8-10 points) and those who feel "low life satisfaction" (4 points or less).
The results showed that 26.1% of 15-year-olds in South Korea answered that they "feel a high level of life satisfaction."
This figure is 7.7 percentage points lower than the OECD average of 33.8%.
The percentage of people who answered "yes" was 22.3%, which is 4.4 percentage points higher than the OECD average of 17.9%.
