Cho Jung Seok of the movie "Pilot" shared his affection for the character "Han Jung Woo" and the story of how even the other actors who were on set at the time didn't notice.
Actor Jo Jo was present at the press conference for the movie "Pilot" (director Kim Han-gyul) held at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 16th.
Ng-seok, Lee Ju Myoung, Han Sung-hwa, Shin Seung-ho and director Kim Han-gyul attended and discussed the work.
The movie "Pilot" is about a man who went from star pilot to unemployed overnight.
The film is a comedy about Han Jung-woo (played by Cho Jung-Seok), who goes through a dramatic transformation and returns to work.
Cho Jung Seok returns to the big screen for the first time in five years since "Exit"
In this work, he plays two extraordinary roles, Han Jung-woo (male) and Han Jung-mi (female). When playing Han Jung-mi, he wears makeup, a wig, women's clothes and high heels.
Of course, he is amazed by how he perfectly transforms into a woman, even in terms of his voice and mannerisms. At the same time, he also portrays Han Jung-woo, who is both a professional with pride and passion in his job, and the weight and sorrow of a family head.
Cho Jung Seok said about the character of Han Jung Woo, "Even now while filming the movie, I empathize with Jung Woo a lot.
I've been running without rest since my debut in 2004, but at each moment, I remember the thoughts and lines that Jungwoo said at the end, and the scene when he called his mother," he recalled.
He continued, "I felt the same way when I read the script, and now that I've filmed it and seen the finished product, I still feel the same way. I hope that many people will watch our film and become friends with Han Jung-woo.
I hope you can empathize with this character. This movie is like a comedy movie where Han Jung-woo grows little by little as the story progresses.
He added, "I want to share this with as many people as possible." He also shared the process and anecdotes about how he dressed up as a woman for the shoot.
"At the beginning of the movie, Jung Woo is walking around in drag and high heels.
I remember the scene where I was approached by a trainer from a sex-specific PT shop. There were a lot of performers on set at the time, but many of them didn't realize it was me that day.
So I just stood there. I remember spending time with the other performers," he said with a laugh. This is not Cho Jung Seok's first time cross-dressing.
Cho Jung Seok said, "In 'Hedwig,' the stage was big and the wigs were amazing.
So everything was expressed more vividly, but on the screen, everyone around Han Jeong-mi had to see her as Han Jeong-mi, not Han Jeong-woo.
So the production team's goal, and my goal in terms of appearance and acting, was for the transformation to be natural. I'm really grateful to the production team."
