On the 17th, the Statistics Bureau of Hunan Province announced that the province's gross domestic product (GDP) for the first half of the year, in real terms excluding the effects of price fluctuations, increased 4.5% year-on-year to 2.45452 trillion yen (approximately 53 trillion yen).
This was a lower growth rate than the national growth rate (5.0%) and the first quarter growth rate in Hunan province (4.8%). The total profits of industrial enterprises of a certain size or larger in the province increased by 6.8% year-on-year.
The growth in the service industry in particular has accelerated, with the operating income of service companies of a certain size or larger increasing 7% from January to May compared to the same period last year. In addition, the operating income of the leisure industry also increased 10%.
In the first half of the year, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Hunan increased by 5.7% year-on-year. Fixed asset investment increased by 0.4% year-on-year. Of this, industrial investment increased by 5.6%, and infrastructure investment increased by 2.2%.
Capital investment increased by 3.2%, and investment in equipment and tools increased by 5.2%.
