Mayor Hong has been strongly criticizing Han Dong-hoon, the party's candidate for chairman, for the past few days. In a post on his blog this afternoon, Mayor Hong wrote, "Party members
"I believe in political consciousness. I want party members to correct public opinion that has been distorted by the machinations of some media outlets and the manipulation of public opinion by the comment squad. I will be watching closely," he wrote.
Prior to this, Mayor Hong had spoken out the day before about the controversy over the revelation of the bribery of candidate Han and candidate Na Kyung-won for dropping charges in the fast track case.
Mayor Hong also strongly criticized candidate Han. In his Fei Subook, Mayor Hong wrote, "The Minister of Justice has general authority over prosecution cases, and directs specific cases through the Prosecutor General."
He continued, "The fast track case is a typical political crime committed by the Moon Jae-in administration, and if the administration changes, the Minister of Justice should naturally instruct the Prosecutor General to drop the charges.
"He should have done something about it, but he abandoned it and now that he's become the party leader, he's going to strengthen legal support. That's typical sociopathic thinking."
