Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo: ”Abolish regional restrictions when hiring personnel” (South Korea)
On the 22nd, Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo said, "In order to move towards becoming an open city, from today onwards, we will completely abolish regional restrictions when hiring not only civil servants but all personnel under our umbrella.
Mayor Hong said this during a meeting of executives held at the Daegu City Hall Sangyeok Building on the same day, and said, "This is an innovative example of how to discover talented people from all over the country.
"I have instructed the city of Daegu and its affiliated agencies to abolish regional restrictions when hiring personnel," he said.
If a huge airport city with a population of 250,000 is to be developed, a medical center will be absolutely necessary. We will hold thorough discussions in advance with the airport construction corporation to attract a medical center near the Daegu Gyeongbuk New Airport.
He also instructed, "The role of overseas offices is of utmost importance in order to bring about practical exchanges and visible results between the two cities. When selecting resident officers, we will select staff who are fluent in the local language.
Regarding the promotion of safety inspections and maintenance of public facilities after the end of the rainy season, he said, "Daegu City did not suffer any major damage during this rainy season, and it has passed safely."
"We need to cooperate with the disaster safety office in preparation for the approaching typhoon and take every possible measure to prevent damage from the typhoon," Mayor Hong said.
"In order to avoid any inconvenience caused, the heads of the offices and bureaus must take responsibility for ensuring that the handover of duties is carried out accurately and that there are no gaps in operations," he said.
