A five-year-old boy who fell unconscious at a taekwondo dojo in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, has died. The director of the dojo that abused the child and left him unconscious has told the family,
According to investigators on the 24th, the 5-year-old boy, who had been unconscious, was declared dead yesterday.
On the 12th of this month, at around 7:20 pm, a taekwondo dojo director in his 30s, B, was wearing a kimono at the taekwondo dojo he runs in Yangju.
According to the police, A-kun was screaming for help, but B-kun was left alone and A-kun lost consciousness.
Because he was not breathing properly, he was taken to an ENT clinic in the same building. While the doctor was administering CPR to him at the hospital, Mr. B returned to his own dojo and watched the CCTV footage of the incident.
During the police investigation, Mr. B explained that it was a prank, but his family expressed indignation, saying, "It wasn't just a one-time thing."
The grandmother of the deceased child told KBS, "It appears that the child was probably put inside the mat three or four times before."
When he came home, he said, 'Mom, this hurts. The director put me on a blue mat.'" In addition, Mr. B did not apologize to the family, but said, "Please settle the matter."
The uncle of the deceased child expressed his anger, saying, "It seems wrong to put this word first. I want them to receive the maximum punishment that the law allows. That's all that's needed."
Meanwhile, with the death of Mr. A, the charge against Mr. B, the director of the Taekwondo dojo, is expected to be changed from child abuse resulting in serious injury to a different charge, such as child abuse resulting in death.
