In a sexual assault case where there was no objective evidence other than the victim's statement, the investigative team from the Gangneung branch of the Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office carefully analyzed the video and uncovered the truth of the case.
According to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office on the 24th, the Gangneung branch criminal investigation division is investigating suspect A for sexually assaulting the victim, with whom he was in a relationship, six times between March and April of this year.
The suspect, who was detained and sent to the prosecution, completely denied the crimes. Of the 39 minutes of footage that the victim presented as evidence, the two men were only specifically identified for about two minutes.
The investigation team confirmed that the remaining 37 minutes of the crime scene was captured on the plastic lid of the washing machine in the video. They then asked the Supreme Prosecutors' Forensic Science Analysis Division to expand the video and improve the image quality.
After undergoing processes such as sharpening, image correction, filter analysis, and noise removal, the investigation team confirmed that the crime occurred at a different time from the crime date and time previously sent to the prosecutor's office.
The scene was confirmed. Suspect A confessed to all the crimes in front of the evidence. The investigation team uncovered additional criminal facts and put the case on trial.
The Supreme Prosecutor's Office recovered the CCTV footage that the Coast Guard was unable to recover, and after consulting with forensic experts, indicted the captain and crew on charges of murder and aiding and abetting murder (
The Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office's Mokpo Branch Criminal Division 2, which investigated the charges, and the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office's Women and Children's Crimes Division, which clarified the charges of non-consensual sexual intercourse through DNA and chemical analysis and re-examination.
The investigation department also selected it as an outstanding case.
