Min Hee Jin files lawsuit against HYBE CEO and other executives for obstruction of business (South Korea)
ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has filed charges of defamation against Park Ji-won, CEO of Korean entertainment company HYBE, and other executives of the parent company.
On the 24th, Min's legal representative, law firm Se Jeong, stated, "Park Ji-won, CEO, Lim Soo-hyeon, Chairman of the Audit Committee, and Cho
Chief Legal Officer Ng Jin-soo, Chief Financial Officer Lee Kyung-jun, and Chief Communications Officer Park Tae-hee are accused of obstruction of business, electronic record and other content detection, information and communication network infringement, and defamation.
"They illegally obtained personal messenger records and personal information and leaked them without permission, then repeatedly edited them to suit their own purposes.
"We also conducted a forensic examination of the laptop that was reset and returned when CEO Min was assigned to ADOR in 2022, and found that personal, non-work-related conversations were illegally obtained," he explained.
Min's side claims that HYBE coerced the members into using their work computers during the audit process and obtained the contents of their personal messengers.
Min's side also stated, "It has caused harm to the artists and ADOR members and has caused confusion among the public.
We have requested several times that they stop causing these illegal acts, but they have continued until recently," he said. "We can no longer ignore the damage, so we will take action."
In response, HYBE said, "CEO Min has never submitted any information assets, such as a laptop, to the company. He also responded to the audit.
"He transferred numerous business documents, including records of conversations with outside parties, from his HYBE business email account to an outside party, and those documents remained on our company's server."
HYBE also stated that they intend to fight back, claiming that Min and others have filed a lawsuit based on false facts and that they are innocent.
In April of this year, HYBE accused CEO Min of breach of trust, and she took over management rights of ADOR.
In response, CEO Min stated that due to the equity structure, it was not possible to vote for or against management rights, and that he had not committed any breach of trust.
After that, Min responded to the proposal to dismiss him at ADOR's extraordinary shareholders' meeting by saying,
HYBE applied for a provisional injunction to prevent them from exercising their voting rights in favor, and on May 30th of this year, the court cited this and decided that he would continue in his position as CEO.
In addition to HYBE, Min's subsidiary label BELIFT LAB also filed a lawsuit against him for defamation, among other things.
RCE MUSIC has filed a lawsuit seeking damages worth hundreds of millions of won.
